First published in Infocus: Jatropha, a supplement to Cleantech magazine, May 2008, Copyright Cleantech Investor 2008 York University, in conjunction with Japengo University in Mexico, is undertaking research into non toxic varieties of Jatropha. Professor Ian Graham of York University is optimistic about the potential, through crop science, to develop strains of Jatropha which could be used as an animal feed. The meal from Jatropha is potentially as nutritionally valuable as soy been meal, once the toxic properties are removed.
