Belgian cleantech fund holds first close at EUR 26m

Belgium-based Capricorn Venture Partners has raised EUR 26m in its first stage of fundraising. The terms and conditions, as well as carried interest and management fees are set to industry’s standards. The fund’s cornerstone investors are PMV (Participatie Maatschappij Vlaanderen), Electrabel (a member of the Suez Group) and M.R.B.B. (holding company of the group Boerenbond). Capricorn Cleantech Fund will extend its investor base in the next twelve months and expects a final close in the EUR 75 - 100m range by end of 2007/ Q12008.

Investments


Capricorn Cleantech Fund will invest in European companies having or developing innovative technologies for projects involving renewable energy, water purification, clean air and soils, reduction of greenhouse gases, bio based chemicals and bio refineries. It will invest an average of EUR 1m- EUR 5m per project and it will aim to back at least 5 deals per year.

People


The team of Capricorn Venture Partners is led by Paul Decraemer, an investment manager with experience in the sustainable energy area. He will spearhead the cleantech investment practice within Capricorn Venture Partners.
