AIM listed Clean Air Power has developed the Dual-Fuel TM combustion technology for heavy-duty diesel engines. 2006 sales were £4.07 million, up 22%. The gross margin improved from 29% to 43% and the net loss was reduced to £1.04 million from £3.73. Clean Air Power raised funds of £10.6 million on admission to AIM last year. Cash was £5.62 million at the year end. Dual-Fuel permits a heavy duty diesel truck engine to run on a combination of both diesel and natural gas (CNG). The technology is sold as an integrated product in Australia and as the Genesis retrofit product in Europe. The integrated solution works with a manufacturer’s electronic engine management system. Strategy is to reach agreement with a truck manufacturer on incorporating the technology as a standard option. Genesis, launched last year, is an interim application and is available for the DAF CF85 and Mercedes Axor engines in the UK and Europe. The first system was sold to Warburtons Bakery and it has been trialled by Tesco. Genesis is adaptable to fit into any Euro 3 engine and will be incorporated into Euro 4 and 5 compliant trucks. Target markets include Germany, Italy and the Netherlands which have mature natural gas infrastructures.
